The first time I used Office 2007, I thought, Oh my god, why is it disorganized, everything looked a bit messy, but hey, I guess I was wrong, I misjudged a more organized application for a disorganized one. Unlike Microsoft Office 97-2003, Office 2007 Menus and Toolbars are organized into related sections and related functionalities are grouped together.

At first it might look a little bit complicated but not to confuse any newbie. You just need to click buttons for two to three days and then you will enjoy:

It enables you to quickly and easily create documents. This is because the icons used are displayed in front of you rather than hidden in layers of tabs. You don’t need to go from one layer to the other and then another layer before selecting an icon or shall I say before displaying the icon in the top most layer. Sorry to Microsoft Office 97-2003 users, Office 2007 makes life much easier. For example if you click on Formula in Microsoft Ofice Excel, the different options will be displayed.

Pretty much everything you need is displayed in the Graphical User Interface. Before I go any further, let me tell you something, I used Microsoft Office 97-2003 since god knows when, well of course it was after 2007.

I used to think that nothing can beat Office 97-2003; maybe it was because I was afraid to try new things. I then forced myself and started using Office 2007 last year July. Since then I‘ve been wondering what took me so long to decide to finally try it….

My productivity in Microsoft Office based tasks increased tremendously. The user interface is amazing. It enables you to use things that you don’t normally use because there are there, available for you to use. You are just tempted to click on the icons, its like placing a cat and a mouse in one room, a cat wont hesitate to chase the mouse.

Formatting capabilities of Word 2007 enable high quality documents. You can easily convert document to the old Microsoft Word 97-2003 or to other formats much, much easier. To convert you only need to:

  • Click on the icon at the top left corner
  • Choose Save As
  • Navigate to Word 97-2003 Document.
  • To save to other document, you need to click the icon on the top left corner which Microsoft calls the “RIBBON” and then choose Save As then Other Formats.

Let me not make the article long, because I believe you are already seeing the benefits of using Office 2007. One will ask himself why I am writing this article.

My intention is not to criticize Microsoft Office 97-2003, I only give credits where it is due that is why I find it necessary to embrace new technology and give credits to the developers of Microsoft Office 2007.

I will appreciate your comments if you still believe that Microsoft Office 97-2003 is still the one or if you want to share with me your experience about Microsoft Office 2007 you can just post a comment. Or if you are using something better it would be great if you could share it with us.
